Keno Winners

KENO has been a flagship draw game in the Buckeye State since August 2008 and has produced several remarkable winner stories already. Here are a few to get you inspired:

$800,020

A Clermont County nurse won $800,020 on a $2 ticket. She picked her numbers by customizing a Quick Pick selection, swapping in numbers that represented her first date and family birthdays. She hit a perfect 10-Spot match and multiplied her winnings 4x with the Booster, quadrupling a $200,000 prize. The winner took home $586,014.65 after 26.75% tax.

$400,000

In February 2025, an anonymous player at the County Line Bar & Grill in Hartville won this staggering KENO payout. The Ohio Lottery does not release the names of winners who have opted to remain anonymous. After paying their due taxes of $112,000, the winner walked away with a lump-sum payout of $288,000.

$50,005

Jeff from Youngstown thought he'd won $1,500 on his 8-Spot KENO ticket with the Booster. He bought it at the East Side Civics & Athletic Club in Youngstown. "I thought I won $1,500 and when I drove to cash it out, I found out how much it was really worth," he said. After the mandatory 28% state and federal withholding, he took home about $36,000. He planned to pay off some bills and get his race cars ready for racing.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • 01 How do I know if I’ve won KENO?

You can go to our OH KENO Results page to see the most recent results. It is updated right after each KENO draw so you can match the numbers on your ticket with the drawn numbers. You win a prize if you match the required minimum of numbers for your chosen spot tier, or if you match absolutely zero numbers when playing a 10-Spot game.

  • 02 What is the KENO Booster?

The Booster costs an extra $1 per $1 wagered and can multiply any prize by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x or 10x.

  • 03 Does the Booster apply to the top prize?

Yes. The Booster multiplies every prize, including the $100,000 top prize on a 10-Spot game. A 10x Booster on a $1, 10-Spot ticket would turn $100,000 into $1,000,000.

  • 04 How much do you win for matching zero numbers?

On a 10-Spot game, matching none of the 20 drawn numbers wins $5 for every $1 you bet. The other spot games don't pay anything for zero matches.

  • 05 What are the odds of winning KENO?

It depends on how many spots you play. A 10-Spot game wins some prize about 1 in 9.05 times, and a 9-Spot game about 1 in 6.53. Matching all 10 numbers on a 10-Spot game is far harder, at 1 in 8,911,711. The prize tables on this page show the odds for every spot and every prize.

  • 06 Is tax taken from KENO winnings?

Yes, on larger prizes. For prizes over $5,000, 24% federal tax and Ohio state tax are taken off before you're paid. Some Ohio cities also tax lottery winnings. This withholding is a prepayment, not your final tax bill. You must report all winnings on your tax return, and you may owe more or get some back. For example, the Clermont County nurse who won $800,020 in August 2026 had 26.75% withheld.
